The data center workforce shortage is a scheduling problem: the companies building America’s data centers need electricians and technicians faster than the education system can produce them. Closing the gap will require employers to take a larger role in preparing the people they hire, and it creates an opportunity for education companies that can help.
On September 9, Interplay Learning announced America’s Mission Critical Workforce, a national initiative to prepare workers to build, operate, and maintain data centers. Cengage, the New American Industrial Alliance, and YouthBuild are founding members. Together, they plan to expand training capacity and connect employers with prospective workers earlier in their education.
